Is your data looked after by someone properly trained to protect it?
Database administration
Relational and document databases, on premise and in cloud, from MySQL and PostgreSQL through MongoDB to the Oracle ladder.
What this covers
This track covers what a database administrator is actually accountable for: schema and index design, query performance, backup and verified restore, replication and high availability, user access and audit, and upgrades that do not lose data. Restore is emphasised throughout, because a backup nobody has ever restored is a hope rather than a control.
It spans several engines on purpose. Most organisations end up running more than one, and the transferable skill is understanding the trade-offs between them rather than memorising one vendor’s syntax.
