The rails we integrate with

Payment infrastructure in this market is a set of rails, each with its own API, its own settlement behaviour and its own failure modes. These are the ones we build against.

M-Pesa (Daraja API)

Collections and disbursements, B2B and B2C payments, and STK Push checkout. STK Push is the M-Pesa SIM Toolkit prompt on the customer’s handset, which is a different mechanism from a card payment and is built as such.

Airtel Money and T-Kash

The other two mobile money rails in the Kenyan market, integrated for collections and disbursements alongside M-Pesa so a checkout is not tied to one operator.

PesaLink, RTGS and EFT

Direct connectivity to commercial banks for real time transfers, bulk payment runs and payroll disbursement.

Card networks and acquirers

Card processing through acquiring banks and local processors, with tokenised checkout flows so card data does not land in your own systems.

Compliance and screening services

PEP and sanctions screening and adverse media checks, wired into the payment flow rather than run as a separate manual step.

These are integrations, not partnerships. TecFlax builds against each rail’s published interface on behalf of the client, who holds the commercial relationship and the licensing with the operator, bank or scheme.

Discovery and compliance mapping

We establish your licensing status, the payment rails you are targeting and the regulatory obligations that follow, before a line of code is written. This is the stage that most often changes the architecture.

We design a secure, scalable system architecture matched to your expected transaction volumes and your growth plans, rather than to today’s traffic alone.

Build and integrate

We develop the platform and integrate it with mobile money, banks, card networks and whichever compliance tooling the design calls for.

Test and certify

We run sandbox and security testing, and support you through any certification or compliance review the rails or the regulator require.

Launch and support

We go live with monitoring in place and stay on for ongoing support, with the platform built to scale as transaction volumes grow.

Supported after launch

A payment platform is not finished at go-live, it is only exposed at go-live. Every system we build can be covered by a 24/7/365 SLA support and maintenance agreement covering monitoring, incident response, configuration changes and platform updates.

Response and resolution targets are set in your agreement rather than published here, because they depend on what is covered and at what hours. We monitor what we build: see banking and fintech monitoring for how transaction flows are watched in production.

Payment engineering, not general software

Payments are unforgiving in a way most software is not. A failed request is somebody’s rent, a duplicate is a refund and a reconciliation gap is an audit finding. The engineering discipline that follows from that, idempotency, reconciliation, audit trails and careful failure handling, is what separates a payment platform from an application that happens to take money.

TecFlax Solutions Limited was established in 2014 by a team of engineers registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya.
