USSD, SMS and STK monitoring

The 2G channels most customers still transact on, tested with real GSM hardware rather than an emulator.

What this covers

USSD, SMS and SIM Toolkit are how a very large share of customers reach financial services, and they are the channels conventional monitoring reaches least well. They run over the mobile network, not over your web stack, so an HTTP check tells you nothing about whether they work.

Apogee tests them using GSM hardware, driving the session the way a handset does. A menu that has shifted, a session that times out, a network-initiated push that never arrives: all of it becomes visible, and visible per test location rather than as a single national average.

The platform also handles asynchronous and network-initiated push USSD, which ordinary synthetic monitoring cannot script at all.

What’s included

  • USSD session monitoring over real GSM hardware
  • Network-initiated (push) USSD testing
  • SMS delivery and content verification
  • SIM Toolkit (STK) menu journey testing
  • Asynchronous transaction handling
  • Per-location availability across regions
  • Session timeout and menu drift detection

Because tests run over the live mobile network, results reflect what a customer on that network actually experiences, including carrier-side problems that never reach your own infrastructure.
Available as a fully monitored service or implemented for your own team to run, and can be covered by a 24/7/365 SLA support and maintenance agreement covering alert response, threshold tuning, script maintenance and reporting.
