What this covers
Network and endpoint tooling watches around your applications. It does not see inside them, which is a problem when the attack is a command injection, a path traversal or a SQL injection arriving as an ordinary-looking HTTP request that only becomes dangerous once the application processes it.
Application detection and response instruments the application itself, so it sees the request reach the vulnerable code path and can block it there. That inside view is also why it distinguishes a probe that failed from one that worked, which is the distinction that decides whether anybody needs to be woken up.
